Google apps are not just for small businesses they are totally enterprise ready with single sign on capabilities, LDAP integrations and most importantly huge amounts of per user storage. It also has great SPAM filtering and advanced filtering with Postini. So why should major companies host their email solutions (and a bit of other stuff comes with it) with Google?
Well there are several reasons we can think off:
- Insane ROI at 50 bucks a user/year for 25GB of storage. That is crazy cheap (ok affordable or inexpensive are the marketing words to use).
- Who really wants to manage email anyway, we don’t think your company has a competitive advantage by having to figure out how to give everyone in your organization 25GB of storage with your exchange server.
- Outlook and Smartphone ready.
- You can use Google Wave. We think this could be revolutionary right their collaboration like you have never before seen in your company. (though it looks like they are rethinking the wave at Google)
- Postini services and e-discovery…. who better to lead discovery than google searches of your user’s email boxes.. now that should help if you are ever in legal trouble to actually be able to find stuff. This alone is worth a ton of dough. Seriously take a look at Postini 10 years of retention .. still only 25 bucks a year.
- Did we mention it was Cheap?
- And lots more stuff .. like contacts, groups, etc
Just imagine converting everyone today, getting all the email ported over .. maybe going through a few months of conversion and then.. then.. unplugging your exchange server forever!!!
One of AIIM’s (the content management organization) tracks covers discovery and retention of emails and we really don’t think you will find a better and more cost-effective solution.
Afraid of the cloud? Well, we think there are some good reasons not to be afraid.
- Google has 99.9% uptime, can your email admin do this?
- Google security folks are most likely better than yours.
- E-mail tends to float around the net anyway, so keeping all internal is well not that big of deal.
- It’s costing you more than you think to hang onto that internal server
- Many folks are running 2003 servers. Really! 8 year old technology for your e-mail system that users use like 50% of their work day.
- It’t the perfect app to move to the cloud. Email and documents both are great fits for the cloud.
- It’s surprisingly simple to change such a large application, with our guidance you can be moved over in short and not so bumpy time frames.
We think every organization big and small should consider this option, it may not be for everyone but its worth a look, call us today at 888-986-8587.
