“Show Cart Discount” — a Magento Extension by Xumulus

We built the Show Cart Discount extension to fix an overlooked problem: once an on-sale product is added to the cart, Magento drops any indication that it was on sale. Restoring that signal helps reduce cart abandonment and lift conversion.
On the product page, Magento clearly shows the regular price alongside the sale price. But in the cart and Order Summary, the customer only sees the final price — the visual reinforcement of the discount is gone, and they’d have to leave checkout to confirm the original price. Our extension keeps it in front of them.
Key features
- Mini-cart: the original price is shown with a strikethrough above the sale price.
- Cart: the original subtotal and total savings are calculated and shown in the summary.
- Checkout overview: the original price is shown struck-through with the sale price below, plus a “Total Saved” line.
Why it matters
Once a shopper is ready to check out, get out of their way — don’t make them leave to re-check a sale price or do the math on their savings. Keep the discount visible, reinforce the psychology of the sale, and win a few more conversions.
